For his ongoing series of musical pictograms, Swedish illustrator Viktor Hertz takes a step back from some of his favorite songs, thinking about their message, their meaning, and their style. Nearly six years later and he’s boiled down over 70 classic tracks into standalone images that tell a story of their own, including new hits by Britney Spears and Frank Ocean as well as timeless Oldies by Billy Joel and the Rolling Stones. Hertz is particularly prolific: He’s rendered 50 posters from scratch this year alone, and has launched a Kickstarter to continue his series.
